Undergraduate Awards

At the end of each academic year prizes are awarded to students undertaking an Engineering degree who have excelled in their studies. Through kind donations from industry and private sponsors who wish to support particular engineering disciplines, students are rewarded for their efforts.

Donor: Mrs Mary Jane Bradshaw, to perpetuate the memory of her son, Joseph Guy Bradshaw.
Selection Criteria: This Scholarship is open to competition annually among students pursuing a course for the degree of bachelor of Engineering. The award is made by the student’s loan fund and bursaries committee of Council, which shall take into account the applicant’s ability, means and character. A scholar is eligible for re-award until the completion of his or her course.

The Paterson Scholarships
Eligibility: Students who are Australian citizens and who are enrolled in the Faculty of Engineering studying First Year.
Selection Criteria: The selection criteria, in order of priority, for the scholarship are:

  1. Financial need - as determined by information on the application form;
  2. Disadvantage - i.e. disability, non-English speaking background, female in non-traditional areas, students from rural areas;
  3. Academic Merit- when judging academic ability, Year 12 or equivalent results will be considered for First Year students and the previous year's university results will be considered for Second Year students.

Eligibility: The prize will be available to all students undertaking the first year of a Bachelor of Engineering degree, including those undertaking combined degrees.

Aileen Sinclair Memorial Scholarship

Donor: The family of the late Ms Aileen Sinclair
Eligibility:Students who are Australian citizens or Permanent Residents enrolled in the first year or second year of the Bachelor of Engineering and who are deemed to have financial need and have experienced disadvantage as defined by the criteria used by the Melbourne Scholarships Office.
Selection Criteria: The selection criteria, in order of priority, for the scholarship are:
(a) Financial need
(b) Disadvantage - i.e. disability, non-English speaking background, students from rural areas;
(c) Academic ability.
When judging academic ability, Year 12 or equivalent results will be considered for First Year students and the previous year's university results will be considered for Second Year students.
Special Conditions: The award of the scholarship is subject to a suitable recipient being identified. If a suitable candidate is not found in any given year, two scholarships may be awarded in the following year. A student may not hold the scholarship more than twice during the course of their degree.
