Selection Criteria: Based primarily on academic merit, but also taking into account qualities indicating that the student may make an important contribution to the commercial and financial spheres.
The Scholarship will be awarded on the recommendation of the Dean of the Faculty after consultation with the Deutsche Bank. Applicants may be interviewed by a committee comprising the Dean, a Professor of the Faculty and representatives of Deutsche Bank.
Special Conditions: Successful applications may be offered vacation employment by Deutsche Bank but will be under no obligation to accept.

Bachelor of Commerce Honours CS Soper Scholarship in Economics
Donor : This Scholarship has been established n memory of Professor C.S. (Sam) Soper by his wife, Professor Joan Rydon. Professor Soper was a first-class honours graduate of the Faculty of Economics and Commerce and returned to a Readersip in 1962. In 1970 he was appointed to a Chair in Economics which he held until his retirement in 1980. He was Dean of the Faculty in 1975.
Eligibility: Students entering the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree intending to specialise in economics, and who have already specialised in economic theory or mathematical economics.
Selection Criteria: Academic merit and interview performance. The selection committee will consist of the Head of the Department of Economics and two other members of the Department, one of whom shall be a Professor.
Special Conditions: Should there be no suitable candidate in any year, the funds may be used by the Department of Economics to assist postgraduate students working in economic theory or mathematical economics as determined by the Head of Department.
