The Cultural and Community Relations Advisory Group advises the Vice Chancellor through the Deputy Vice Chancellor (University Affairs) on university-wide programs cultural and community programs and policy. It receives an allocation, annually, from the Finance Committee and makes recommendations regarding what University-level cultural and community activities are to be funded. The funding of cultural and community activities at faculty and departmental level is a matter for deans and heads of departments. The Advisory Group, which reports annually to Council through Finance Committee, has the authority to make forward commitments for up to three years.

Terms of Reference

The Cultural and Community Relations Advisory Group is responsible for-

  1. preparing plans for ensuring that University-level cultural and community activities are consistent with the values and strategic objectives of the University, achieve public prominence and are effectively coordinated;
  2. making recommendations regarding University-level cultural and community activities to be funded from funds allocated by Finance Committee;
  3. the development of guidelines and the implementation of procedures for the making of the recommendations referred to in 4 (b) above on an open and contestable basis;
  4. monitoring the effectiveness of University-level cultural and community activities and reporting annually to and through the Finance Committee to Council on those activities.
