Chapter 4 - General Resolutions Including Protocols
4.18 Policy for Permanent Outdoor Sculpture
From time to time the University may be offered or purchase a sculpture or other piece of art suitable for display in the University grounds. As the curator of the University’s art collection, the Ian Potter Museum of Art must review all works offered for donation to the University. All works must be accepted into the University’s collection before a location can be considered.
The Landscape Subcommittee may recommend to the Buildings and Estates Committee the preferred location in the University grounds for any outdoor sculpture or other pierce of art suitable for display outdoors.
Procedure for Submissions

- Property & Campus Services may make a recommendation to the Landscape Subcommittee of the location/s for the work as it deems suitable. Property & Campus Services may also consult with the Ian Potter Museum of Art, the Cultural Collections Committee and/or the artist.
- The Landscape Subcommittee will consider the recommendation of Property & Campus Services and make a recommendation to the Buildings and Estates Committee on the proposed location of the work.
- Upon approval of a location by the Buildings and Estates Committee, Property & Campus Services will administer the installation of the work in the grounds.
- The University reserves the right not to display or to remove from display at any time works it has accepted into the collection.
