The purpose of the University Secretary’s Department is to support the good governance and management of the University. It does this by providing executive and administrative services to Council, Academic Board and many of their committees, together with many commercial undertakings associated with the University. It provides advice and support to senior officers and members of committees including the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor and President of the Academic Board and manages the awarding of honorary degrees and University medals. It is the official custodian of the University seal and is responsible for publishing legislation and other official records of the University
