Excerpt from email to staff from Vice-Chancellor Glyn Davis, 19 April 2005

The Parkville campus celebrated the diversity of our students on Friday 8 April with the annual Night Market, organised by Melbourne University Overseas Students Services (MUOSS). Smoke and sound drifted across the Concrete Lawn and into the evening as students and staff enjoyed food and music from many nations.

Thank you to Pauline Shi, Team Coordinator, Remuneration and Benefits in Human Resources and a member of the University's Tsunami taskforce, for opening the evening's events.

The Night Markets required months of hard work by MUOSS President Yongjian Hung and many student volunteers. The markets are a wonderful addition to campus life and this year assisted Melbourne University Community Aid Abroad to collect donations toward tsunami relief and reconstruction projects.
