How staff can help

Full-time and part-time University staff may now salary-package regular donations to tsunami relief appeals administered by six charitable organisations. To arrange this, download and complete the "Salary Packaging - Tsunami Appeal" form available at http://www.hr.unimelb.edu.au/forms/hr32d.pdf

Should you wish to make donations to support the relief and recovery effort after the tsunami, the web addresses of key aid agencies can be found on the Tsunami contacts page.

Flexible employment procedures will be implemented so that staff wishing to assist with the relief effort or the subsequent rebuilding phase may do so without disadvantage to their employment arrangements.

The University has set up a fund of A$250,000 to be used over three years, for example, to support tsunami relief projects by enabling expert staff to travel to affected areas. Already, there are University staff with useful specific expertise on the ground in these countries and in the longer term we expect further requests for such assistance.
