The Melbourne Model Committee is a sub-committee of the Senior Executive. It serves as a forum through which collaboration across faculties and graduate schools which is essential to the achievement of the University’s objectives for the Melbourne Model can be fostered and any issues inhibiting effective collaboration can be identified and resolved. The Committee reports to Senior Executive and, where appropriate, to the Academic Board.

Terms of Reference

  1. The Committee oversees the planning, development and implementation of undergraduate education and related academic support services, in accordance with policies and procedures set by the Academic Board.
  2. The Committee coordinates the work of the Melbourne Model undergraduate Course Standing Committees.
  3. The Committee monitors the performance of faculties, graduate schools and relevant administrative divisions in fulfilling the objectives of the Melbourne Model.
  4. The Committee monitors the content and delivery of University breadth subjects and of off-campus for-credit subjects to ensure that they are aligned with the objectives of the Melbourne Model.
  5. The Committee serves as a forum for consultation, collaboration and coordination in relation to the University’s graduate programs and related academic support services.
  6. The Committee reviews business plans for all new courses, on the basis of further financial and business advice when required.
  7. The Committee draws on the expertise of affiliates of the University as necessary.

Delegated Authorities

The Committee exercises delegated authority to determine issues raised by Deans from time to time relating to the respective contribution of individual faculties and graduate schools towards the delivery of Melbourne Model undergraduate programs.

The Committee does not have authority to determine matters of an academic nature which are the responsibility of the Academic Board.
