The IT Council is a sub-committee of Senior Executive. The Council determines the University’s enterprise IT architecture and provides advice to Senior Executive and the Executive Director IT on significant issues relating to the University’s IT Infrastructure and on IT strategy, principles and priorities.

MEMBERSHIP

The IT Council comprises:

President of the Academic Board or nominee
Executive Director IT
Pro Vice-Chancellor (Teaching & Learning)
Head University Services
Deans of faculties/graduate schools or nominees with expertise in IT policy, and implementation
President of University of Melbourne Student Union
President of University of Melbourne Postgraduate Association.

TERMS OF REFERENCE

  1. To provide advice on the principles that govern the development and management of IT within the University, the University’s Information Strategy and the operating model for the delivery of IT programs.
  2. To determine the IT architecture to be applied within the University to support its academic business activities.
  3. To advise on the deployment of IT infrastructure and services across the University.
  4. To exercise a strategic oversight of the delivery of IT programs and services across the University, and in particular, to provide advice on strategies for improving the quality and efficiencies of the University’s IT activities.
  5. To provide advice on IT matters relating to research and teaching and learning.
  6. To report annually on the efficiency, effectiveness and relative standing of University IT and support services.

Delegated Authority

The IT Council exercises delegated authority to determine the University’s Enterprise Architecture.
