In July 2008, The University of Melbourne prepared a submission to the Review of Australian Higher Education (The Bradley Review)

In 2005 the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Glyn Davis, led an extensive consultation process aimed at assessing the University's progress towards the Melbourne Agenda goals.

Out of this process a new strategy direction arose, and in early 2006 this was developed into Growing Esteem: The University of Melbourne Strategic Plan 2006 (PDF 488 kb).

Further documents, produced as part of the University's accountability framework and annual cycle of reviewing, auditing and reporting, can be found below.

The 2008 University Plan is publicly available, and sets out the University's goals in relation to Growing Esteem - A Triple Helix Strategy: research and research training, learning and teaching, and knowledge transfer.

The 2007 University Plan is also available, as is The University of Melbourne Plan - A Strategic Overview (PDF 2.2 Mb). University staff also have access to detailed strategic plans for 2007 (email login required).

The 2006 Budget (PDF 2.6 Mb), 2007 Budget (PDF 1Mb) and the 2008 Budget (PDF 1Mb) describe how we planned to spend money, generate income and manage the University's financial resources during their respective calendar years.

Towards Environmental Sustainability (PDF 273 kb) is a 2005 plan describing three broad strategies:

  1. Educating for environmentally responsible citizenship
  2. Institutional environmental sustainability initiatives
  3. Research into environmental sustainability

The Research and Research Training Plan 2006 (PDF 300 kb) and Learning and Teaching Management Plan 2006 (PDF 308 kb) describe strategies, goals, actions and targets in specific areas of the University's operations.

The University's operations, structure, governance and financial position are described in the Annual Report 2007 (PDF, 8.1 mb) and Investment Report 2006 (PDF 348 kb), accompanied by the Auditor General's letter (PDF 200 kb).
