The University's information strategy is an integral part of the University's planning framework. Effective information and communication technology innovation can support and transform university teaching, learning and research, and underpin effective administration and services.

The information strategy supports the development of the Melbourne Model and the University’s Growing Esteem strategy, and provides the strategic framework for the University's management of its information and underpinning information and communication technologies.  These webpages provide the 'living' information strategy for the University, including:
  • the principles and policy which underpin and inform our information/information and communication technology plans
  • the information/IT architectures which provide the framework for our plans and the governance processes and structures which underpin the Strategy
  • our Information Futures forum series that explores the changing nature of scholarly communications and information in the digital era.

During 2008 the Information Futures Commission will develop a strategy that positions the University as a leader in the application of scholarly information and technologies to underpin next-generation research, teaching, learning and knowledge transfer. A broad-ranging consultation process will involve members of the University community, peers and colleagues in Australia and overseas, and members of the public.
