PROCLAMATION BY HIS EXCELLENCY CHARLES JOSEPH LA TROBE ESQUIRE
LIEUTENANT GOVERNOR OF THE COLONY OF VICTORIA AND ITS DEPENDENCIES ETC.
And whereas it is expedient that the piece or parcel of land containing six acres, with the erections and buildings thereon, called and known as "The Corporation Stockade", situate at Collingwood in the Parish of Jika Jika and County of Bourke, should be and be declared as a Gaol, Prison, House of Correction, and Penal Establishment. Now therefore I, the Lieutenant Governor aforesaid, by the virtue of the said Act and in furtherance of the powers enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim, declare and notify, the piece or parcel of land containing six acres, with the Erections and Buildings thereon, called and known as "The Corporation Stockade", situate at Collingwood in the Parish of Jika Jika and County of Bourke, to be a Gaol, Prison, House of Correction, and Penal Establishment. Given under my Hand, and the Seal of the said Colony, at Melbourne this twenty-first day of February, one thousand eight hundred and fifty-three.
