The University of Melbourne's World Wide Web site has been designed to create a professional, consistent and integrated presence for the University, while still allowing individual areas to be creative and distinctive in their online publishing.
This document contains guidelines and regulations for staff creating and maintaining pages at the University of Melbourne. Guidelines will be enforced in order to present a unified, consistent image of the University and because of potential legal implications. (See Chapter 3)
The rationale behind this site is to provide a user-friendly, user-specific structure with consistent navigation and branding. The aim is to present the University and its services in the most accessible format. This approach takes precedence over presentation based on organisational structure. The site is based on extensive research and is designed to reflect the University's external communications objectives in the University's Strategic Plan.
