Bachelor of Environments

The Melbourne Bachelor of Environments offers students the opportunity to explore the contemporary theory and practice of natural, constructed and virtual environments. The degree brings together a wide range of related disciplines to provide graduates with an understanding of the social, spatial and technical factors that shape those environments. The course also provides pathways, through specific majors, to Honours and a range of masters and professionally accredited degrees in fields including architecture, civil engineering, construction management, ecosystem management, environmental engineering, environmental studies, geomatics, horticulture, landscape architecture, property, spatial sciences, structural engineering, surveying, urban planning and urban design.

In collaborating across the University, students have the opportunity to engage in real-life problem solving and community projects that contribute to finding sustainable futures, such as water management. Broadly skilled graduates are equipped to make a contribution to sustainable urban and regional communities, and able to assess critically environmental discussions and solutions. Multidisciplinary projects are a key feature of the program.

Students in different majors will work together on real-world projects, turning theory into action and developing skills in the design, construction and management of environments. This will be achieved through a variety of learning experiences including studios, field trips, laboratory sessions, site visits and workshops. Bachelor of Environments graduates will be characterised by their creativity, flexibility and interest in the sustainable design and managementof environments. They will be able to take on roles that involve field or site work in different locations, and operate at the interface of science, design, technology, culture and project management.
