dreamlarge

dreamlarge inspiration

From the very beginning, it was our ability to dream that shaped the world. Our imagination allowed us to see things not as they were, but as they could be. Our dreams led to every one of our greatest achievements. Without dreams, we could not have created complex civilisations, daring feats of engineering or inspiring works of art. Without dreams, we could not have fought for freedom, justice and fundamental human rights.

The power of our dreams will continue to carry us forward. Yet our challenges are greater than ever. We live in a global community and are part of a global economy. The threats we face are global in scale, from climate change to terrorism. And so, if we are to build a sustainable, peaceful and prosperous future for all human beings, merely to dream may no longer be enough.

What we must do is dreamlarge.

The dreamlarge campaign highlights the benefits to individuals and society at large of a well grounded education. It challenges us all to realise our potential through broad education. It asks us to recognise that we are global citizens and can be part of the solution to the large-scale issues facing humanity. It celebrates Australia's intellectual capacity, and in particular that of the University of Melbourne, one of the world's leading universities. And it introduces the groundbreaking reform to higher education in  Australia that is the Melbourne Model.
