Copyright, Your Thesis and Future Publications
Copyright has important implications for researchers who both create intellectual property and also use the works of others. This session offers an opportunity for you to become more aware of your rights and obligations under the Australian Copyright Act, 1968. Particular attention will be paid to the issues that are related to writing a thesis - How much copying is permitted under the fair dealing exception for study and research in the Copyright Act? Can I reproduce images in my thesis? Can I copy from the web? Can I copy and store data? The session will also encourage you to look ahead towards the possible publication of your thesis and the copyright issues involved in making your finished thesis available online via the University of Melbourne ePrint repository (UMER)
Date: Wednesday 27th August 2008 1:00-2:30pm
