Dates
Application closing dates vary between faculties or schools and late applications may be considered. Please consult the relevant student centre or graduate school.
You will need to also consult the relevant student centre or graduate school directly regarding your class commencement and completion dates as they may vary depending on individual subjects undertaken. The CAP Officer of the relevant faculty or graduate school will be able to provide relevant dates for withdrawals, refunds of fees, examinations etc.
Census dates
The census date for standard Semester 1 subjects is 31 March and the census date for standard Semester 2 subjects is 31 August. Census dates for the subjects in which you are enrolled are detailed on your Enrolment Record.
See the census dates for every subject offered by the University
If the census date is not a working day, you must complete your subject withdrawal by the last working day before the census date.
International applicants
International applicants must ensure that undertaking single subject/CAP study does not violate Australian visa conditions. For example, a visitor's visa does not usually allow an enrolment for a study program that is more than three months in length. For more information please contact:

Bridging program for overseas-trained professionals
If you are an overseas-trained professional, you can undertake a bridging program to meet the requirements for entry to your profession in Australia. You should enrol in a bridging program rather than CAP for this purpose. Please contact the relevant faculty or graduate school.
Note: Students undertaking approved bridging study for overseas-trained professionals who hold an Assessment Statement may be eligible for FEE-HELP. For details see www.goingtouni.gov.au
Current University of Melbourne students
If you are a current University of Melbourne student (including international students), approval from your home faculty or graduate school is required before applying for CAP. Please note that credit for CAP study will not be granted towards your current award course. Student visa holders cannot extend the duration of their course as a result of undertaking CAP study.
