Financial Audit

Financial audits are performed to form an independent opinion on the integrity of the financial information being presented and to establish reliability on the means by which it is reported. Most financial audits are undertaken within the context of the Australian Accounting and Auditing Standards and covered by legislation such as the Financial Management Act 1994 and Corporations Law and/or the granting bodies contract conditions.

The main objectives of the financial audit unit are;

  • to highlight area of high risk;
  • to maintain a continuous review of the income and expenditure of the university and it's auxiliary bodies;
  • to provide an audit opinion to the boards of management of those auxiliary bodies which prepare their own accounts; and
  • to provide an audit opinion to various granting bodies at the conclusion of research projects, including CRC's in which the University is a participant.
