The studio consists of an international team of architects who collaborate with artists and designers to produce complex facades, residential and commercial developments, master plans, large scale artworks, exhibition designs and advertising campaigns. Currently we are working on projects in Australia, China and the United Arab Emirates.
What does a standard day at the office entail for you?
A standard day at the office includes design discussions and workshops, office PR and acquisition, administration and research.
What’s the most difficult decision you have had to make in your career?
I think the most difficult yet exciting decision has been to move countries in order to pursue career opportunities.
What is the most enjoyable aspect of your job?
Working with a group of people with a diverse range of academic and professional backgrounds.
What inspires you about your job and life in general?
Being part of an emerging practice - pursuing cutting edge, innovative new ways of designing buildings and conceiving architecture.
What is the most stressful/difficult aspect of your job?
In the past, the biggest challenges have been working in high pressure environments where there is a different design culture.
What have been the most significant moments of your life, post-study?
Choosing a profession which has given me the opportunity to work and live abroad – but I hope the most significant are yet to come!
What are your career highlights?
Being part of the team at Lab architecture studio and working on the Federation Square project as a graduate was very exciting. Prior to returning to Melbourne this year, I worked for four and a half years in The Netherlands and Greece for a number of offices working on projects throughout Europe.
What are your strongest memories of life in Melbourne while you were studying at University of Melbourne?
Walking through a deserted dimly lit campus in the middle of the night - my studio was in the architecture school – too many late nights!
What do you like to do in your spare time?
Travel!
