Increased access and equity scheme - Access Melbourne

The University of Melbourne has increased its commitment to access and equity for undergraduate students through a new special entry scheme called Access Melbourne, which includes an extensive scholarship scheme.

This will allow the University, by 2007, to increase the intake of students from educationally, financially or socially disadvantaged backgrounds enrolling in undergraduate programs by 50 per cent.

In 2005, the University made 220 Melbourne Access Scholarship offers; 192 of these offers were accepted.

The Access Melbourne scheme provides prospective students with the opportunity to explain the ongoing circumstances that have affected their chance of gaining a place at the University of Melbourne. All applicants will also be considered for a Melbourne Access Scholarship which offers a HECS -exempt place plus $2000 per annum.

Giving to the University

As most of us know, establishing a professional career takes dedication and effort to succeed. The awards and prizes offered by the University and its departments and faculties, through the generous benefaction of alumni, all help to distinguish achievement and cultivate peer recognition in that crucial early stage of career development.

If you are thinking about leaving a bequest or providing a gift that might help a new graduate establish their career through a faculty or departmental award, and would like further information and advice, please contact the University Development Office, Bequests and Donations Officer, phone +61 3 8344 5141, email fundraising-development@unimelb.edu.au.
