UMAA Young Alumni Networking Event: Moonlight Mingle atop KL Tower
The Young Alumni of UMAA held the year’s first networking event on 22 February 2008 - this time at 421 metres in the air!
KL Tower is one of the landmarks of Kuala Lumpur and it is here that we decided to kick off our first Young Alumni event, Moonlight Mingle. Our first networking event for the year had a remarkable turnout of 90 people, many of them new faces. This is encouraging as one of the association’s objectives is to increase our member base and in turn, gain more feedback on how the association can facilitate networking and provide support to its members.
The night’s event saw 90 young alumni mingling with each other, some reunited with their course mates and old friends over buffet dinner with an amazing 360 degree night view of KL. We had a lucky draw for new sign-ups to the Alumni Association. Ms Jan Drew, University Regional Director (Malaysia & Singapore), very generously spared her Friday evening to share with us the University’s direction and the Malaysia office’s role in assisting both alumni and prospective students in the country.
The evening was a wonderful start to the calendar of events in store for 2008. Some of the upcoming events for the Young Alumni are a half-day rock climbing team event on 26 April 2008 and a Blockbuster Movie Night in July.
