Making a Major Gift
In addition to your annual support, you may also choose to make a special gift to a particular area or initiative. These gifts are usually substantial in size (from $10,000 upwards) and demonstrate far-sighted commitment to the University of Melbourne and its leadership.
- Scholarships and prizes - By funding a scholarship, you provide a deserving student with a life-changing opportunity that he or she may not have had otherwise. Broad access to the University of Melbourne is a key priority for the campus. Undergraduate and postgraduate scholarships can be funded through gifts ranging from approximately $25,000. Annual awards for students can be established for a smaller amount. You may also wish to consider setting up an endowed - or permanent - scholarship.
- Endowed Chair (Professorship) - Chairs are exceptionally valuable to the University, providing significant leverage in its ability to recruit and retain the world's finest calibre of academic staff. Chairs and professorships contribute to Melbourne's prestige and reputation as a world-class institution.
- Research - Significant support of a research project on campus can play a tremendous role in its advancement. The Advancement Office or Faculty contact can help you determine specific areas of research interest to support.
- Faculty Priorities - Each Faculty has identified its own projects and priorities for which they are seeking funding. Your special gift to an area in need can make an immediate and important impact. To learn more about these giving opportunities, you can contact a faculty directly or the University's Advancement Office.
