The Student Appeal is a student-led fundraising campaign that aims to build awareness of the University’s need for philanthropic support. Ask yourself what the three things below have in common:
- Are you a scholarship student?
- Do you use the Baillieu Library or Beaurepaire Centre?
- Have classes in the Sidney Myer Asia Centre?
All were made possible through acts of philanthropy — gifts and donations to the University of Melbourne.
The University relies on these gifts. Did you know funding provided by the Federal Government is less than half of what the University actually needs to operate?
The 2007 Student Appeal, ‘You Can Make A Difference’, raised more than $3000 to support two new scholarships for students going on exchange. This year we’re aiming to raise $5000 and we need your help to do it!
The Advancement Office invites students to become involved with the Student Appeal’s Leadership Committee. We are looking for individuals with ideas on how to get students involved and to promote the Appeal. The Leadership Committee will set the campaign goals, develop communication strategies, recruit student support and experience fundraising first hand. Participants will receive a certificate of participation for their involvement.
Fundraising skills are fast becoming an important part of many industries in Australia. If you graduate with training, hands-on experience and a little success, you are one giant leap ahead of your peers.
If you are interested in being involved, please contact Lucy Moore on +61 3 8344 1756 or email student-appeal@unimelb.edu.au.
