What is University Staff Giving?
Staff at the University of Melbourne contribute in so many ways to the life and activities of the University. They also have a long tradition of philanthropy and community support. Staff can support the University by:
• Participating in the Workplace Giving Program which allows staff to contribute to certain University activities and external charities through payroll deductions.
• Donating to the University Fund
• Donating to other areas within the University by making a gift online
Workplace Giving Options - University of Melbourne
Every gift counts, regardless of the amount. For as little as $2 per pay period, you can help make a difference and be counted as a member of our growing community of staff who give back.
The following programs and charities are available for your support through Workplace Giving:
• Future Generations Scholarship Fund
For Melbourne to remain one of the best-ranked universities, we need to attract the best and brightest students, regardless of their circumstances. The Future Generations Scholarships Fund is critical to realising the aspirations for our University. Without question, a scholarship can change a student's life.
• Faculty Scholarships
University staff can elect to support scholarships in a Faculty of their choice.
• John McKenzie Research Fellowship
To acknowledge the outstanding contribution made to the University by Professor John McKenzie, former Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and to mark his recent retirement, the University has established an endowment fund for the John McKenzie Fellowship.
An endowed Fellowship is a fitting way to acknowldge Professor McKenzie's role as an influential mentor to many young researchers. The Fellowship will support an early career scientist to pursue research in the Faculty of Science.
• University of Melbourne Research
At the University of Melbourne, some of the finest minds in the world are leading important research into areas as diverse as biomedicine, the environment, neuroscience, culture and the arts. They dream of discovering cures, outcomes and solutions that will benefit not just ourselves, but the world we live in.
• Library and Cultural Collections
Your gift to this area will provide crucial support to the University's cultural collections, extensive library and archives. The University's collection and resource environment enriches the Melbourne Experience for students and engages communities in collective experiences, providing opportunities for reflection and informed intellectual discourse.

•Student Financial Aid
Whenever genuine financial hardship exists, the University endeavours to assist its students. Student Financial Aid provides advice and information on student loans and bursaries, government student assistance, budgeting and a range of other matters related to student finances. At present, only around half of the students who apply for assistance are able to be helped.
