Welcome to the October edition of eNews, bringing you the latest news, benefits, events and reunions.

News just in is that the University has been placed at 37 in the Times Higher Education ranking, maintaining the leading Australian position it achieved in last year's table. The result means the University of Melbourne is the highest placed Australian university in three of the four major world rankings. The University is also Australia's leader in the Shanghai Jiao Tong and Higher Education Evaluation and Accreditation Council of Taiwan rankings, and second nationally in the QS table.

In this issue we have results from last month's Alumni Council election. The election marked the start of an exciting start of a new era for alumni, and I was thrilled so many of you got involved in this historic event.

On campus, we are watching the Baillieu Library refurbishment unfold, whilst the new Business & Economics Library opened its doors. Remember, you can always use the University libraries and, as an alumnus, you can even register for discounted borrowing.

Continuing the theme of libraries and lifelong learning, I'm pleased to announce this edition's giveaway - you can win one of three subscriptions to the University's online journal service.

If it has been a while since you were on campus, refresh your memory with 360 degree virtual tours. In the meantime, you can get into the university spirit by cheering the Melbourne rowing crews, as they take on Sydney University in the historic Australian Boat Race.

Sincerely

Signature

Director of Alumni Relations
