Issue 07 | October 2009
It brings me great pleasure to welcome you to this month’s edition with an excellent piece of news. Science alumna Professor Elizabeth Blackburn has recently become the first Australian woman to win a Nobel Prize, and we proudly extend our congratulations to Professor Blackburn for this historic achievement. You can read more about her work and this remarkable win in this edition of Melbourne Alumni e-news.
On a more sombre note, I would also like to acknowledge the members of our alumni community in Indonesia and Samoa who have been affected by the recent earthquakes. With many alumni and students from the Asia Pacific - or otherwise connected - our thoughts are with those whose lives have been touched by this tragedy.
Yours sincerely,
Professor Glyn Davis
Vice-Chancellor
