Like many fine universities across the world, the University of Melbourne is facing a range of challenges and constraints in today’s difficult economic environment. In an email sent recently to all staff, the Vice-Chancellor Professor Glyn Davis outlined the external financial pressures on the University and an economic response program – a range of strategies designed to curb additional spending and ensure our future viability is not compromised. While the University remains in the black, future spending must slow to ensure its financial position remains sound. You can read Professor Davis’ email at www.unimelb.edu.au/erp/messages-from-vc.html#email.
