VCA and Music plan to join forces in new Faculty
A ‘gold standard’ in higher education and training in the arts will be the hallmark of a proposed new Faculty of the VCA and Music at the University of Melbourne. The new Faculty brings together two University faculties - the Victorian College of the Arts (VCA) and the Faculty of Music - to create the most powerful and comprehensive institution of its kind in Australia. more >>

The Melbourne University Sports Association’s annual dinner and sports awards were held at Telstra Dome on Thursday 3 April. The evening included a lively panel discussion by some of the University’s past Olympians and those preparing for Beijing. more >>
Thirty years on, diversity is the key for Vet Science alumni
The Veterinary Science class of 1977 held a thirty-year reunion over the weekend of 26 and 27 April, bringing together former classmates from around Australia as well as from the United States, New Zealand and Hong Kong. The reunion coincided with World Veterinary Day, which celebrates the diversity of the veterinary profession. more >>
Former Dean of Science retires
Professor John McKenzie, whom many alumni would remember in his past roles as Head of the Department of Genetics, Dean of the Faculty of Science and mentor to young researchers, has retired after more than 30 years at the University of Melbourne. more >>

Peter Singer on ‘The Many Demands of Living Ethically’
Alumni and guests are invited to the Vice-Chancellor's Oration for Alumni to be held on Thursday 12 June in the stunning contemporary surrounds of the University's Sidney Myer Asia Centre. Distinguished Melbourne alumnus, internationally influential philosopher and bioethicist Professor Peter Singer will speak on the topic ‘The Many Demands of Living Ethically’. Registration essential.
New series - Director's Tours of the Potter for Alumni
Alumni are warmly invited to a series of exclusive Director’s Tours of upcoming exhibitions at the Ian Potter Museum of Art. Choose from afternoon and evening tours, each followed by light refreshments. Places are limited and bookings essential.
Blacks to meet Blues in historic game
‘Footy tragics’ are invited to witness what promises to be a blockbuster game of local Australian Rules football on Saturday 17 May at 2pm at the University Oval in Parkville. The University Blacks will play against the University Blues in the Victorian Amateur Football Association’s A-grade competition – the first time the two Melbourne University teams have faced each other since 1982.

Fifty-year reunion for teaching alumni

Melbourne Teachers’ College alumni of the K2L2 June 1956–June 1958 group are invited to a reunion on Saturday 7 June 2008 at 2.00pm to celebrate 50 years since the group graduated. The Sunwrae String Quintet invites you to experience the lush sounds of ‘nu chamber’ music at Melbourne's Manchester Lane on Sunday 25 May. Melbourne University and Alumni Bushwalking Group
The group's next activity will be a 13.5 km walk in the Mount Macedon Regional Park on Saturday 17 May. Intending walkers who are not members should contact Joan Kenny by 10 May for a copy of the walk notes.
Centenary of Black and Blue Rugby
A Centenary Game and Centenary Dinner on Saturday 7 June will mark the 100-year anniversary of the Melbourne University Rugby Football Club. Former players, supporters and coaches are all welcomed to join the celebrations.
