Alumni achievements recognised in Indonesia

Two prominent University of Melbourne alumni have won Australian Alumni Awards in Indonesia. Mr Budiman Holan Hendropurnomo (BArch(Hons) 1982) and Mr James Riady (BCom 1978) were recognised for their outstanding talent, achievements and contributions. more >>

Top 100 ranking in Medicine, Engineering, Life Sciences

The University of Melbourne is the only Victorian university – and one of only six in Australia – to appear in the recently-released 2008 Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) top 100 ranking of broad subject fields. more >>

VCA alumni make their mark on the arts world

Director Michelle Lehman (Film and Television 2003) took the top prize at Tropfest, the world's largest short film festival. The Home Song Stories, a feature film written and directed by Tony Ayres (Film and Television 1985), won two major awards at the 2007 Golden Horse Awards in Taipei, Taiwan. Meanwhile, this year’s Green Room nominations for the best of live theatre in Melbourne include a host of VCA Drama graduates.

Authors explore cyberspace in East Asia

Asia Institute and Cultural Studies staff and students have produced a special edition of the Asian Studies Review (ASR): a snapshot of the intersections between cyberspace and everyday life in China, Korea and Japan. more >>
