Two prominent University of Melbourne alumni have won Australian Alumni Awards in Indonesia. Mr Budiman Holan Hendropurnomo (BArch(Hons) 1982) and Mr James Riady (BCom 1978) were recognised for their outstanding talent, achievements and contributions. more >>
Top 100 ranking in Medicine, Engineering, Life Sciences
The University of Melbourne is the only Victorian university – and one of only six in Australia – to appear in the recently-released 2008 Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) top 100 ranking of broad subject fields. more >>
VCA alumni make their mark on the arts world
Director Michelle Lehman (Film and Television 2003) took the top prize at Tropfest, the world's largest short film festival. The Home Song Stories, a feature film written and directed by Tony Ayres (Film and Television 1985), won two major awards at the 2007 Golden Horse Awards in Taipei, Taiwan. Meanwhile, this year’s Green Room nominations for the best of live theatre in Melbourne include a host of VCA Drama graduates.

A University of Melbourne alumnus and world leader in trachoma research, Professor Hugh Taylor, AC (MB BS 1971, GDip Opthal 1975, MD 1979), has been appointed to the University's new Harold Mitchell Chair of Indigenous Eye Health. more >>

In Search of Identity in Architecture: Hijjas Kasturi
Free public lecture - Eminent architect and University of Melbourne alumnus Mr Hijjas bin Kasturi (BArch 1965, GDipTRP 1966) will speak on the topic ‘In Search of Identity in Architecture’ in conjunction with the opening of an exhibition of work by his practice, Hijjas Kasturi Associates. Monday 17 March, 6.30-7.30pm, Prince Philip Theatre, Architecture building, Parkville campus.
Australian Universities International Alumni Convention
Alumni are invited to attend the sixth Australian Universities International Alumni Convention (AUIAC) to be held in Singapore from 10 to 13 June 2008. The convention will bring together illustrious alumni of Australian universities, tertiary and professional institutions to deliberate on relevant issues impacting the world today.
Vice-Chancellor's Oration for Alumni
Alumni and guests are invited to register their interest in attending the Vice-Chancellor's Oration for Alumni on Thursday 12 June at a University campus venue to be confirmed. The first of this year's Orations will be given by distinguished alumnus, influential philosopher and bioethicist Peter Singer.
