Alumnus to lead CPA Australia in Singapore

Mr Chaly Mah (BCom 1980) has been appointed President of the Singapore division of CPA Australia, Australia's largest accounting body. Mr Mah has more than 30 years' experience in the accounting profession in Singapore and Melbourne, and is currently the regional managing partner and CEO of Deloitte Asia Pacific. more >>

UoM parasite expert wins Fulbright Senior Scholarship

Robin B. Gasser (PhD 1990, DVSc 2000), Professor of Parasitology and Associate Dean International in the Faculty of Veterinary Science, is one of four talented Australians to be recognised as a Fulbright Senior Scholar in 2008. The award will enable him to further his research into parasite genomics using cutting-edge technologies only available in the USA. more >>

Ross Garnaut to be Vice-Chancellor's Fellow

Professor Ross Garnaut, author of the forthcoming Garnaut Climate Change Review and an internationally recognised expert on Asia-Pacific economics, has been appointed a Vice-Chancellor's Fellow at the University of Melbourne and a Professorial Fellow in the Faculty of Economics and Commerce. more >>

Professor Garnaut was the keynote speaker at the University's recent cross-disciplinary conference on Climate Change and Social Justice.

Vice-Chancellor's Oration for Alumni

Alumni and guests are invited to the Vice-Chancellor's Oration to be held on 12 June in the stunning contemporary surrounds of the University's Sidney Myer Asia Centre. Distinguished Melbourne alumnus, internationally influential philosopher and bioethicist Peter Singer will speak on the topic ‘The Many Demands of Living Ethically’. Registration essential.

Alumni in Germany invited to join network

DeAN (Deutsch-Australisches Netzwerk) e.V. is a non-profit alumni association based in Germany. It was founded in 1997 to promote student and academic exchange between Australia and Germany. DeAN has approximately 200 members and organises regional gatherings and a yearly reunion that this year will take place on the weekend of 12-14 September in Cologne. International Week 2008

The Melbourne University Overseas Students Service (MUOSS) invites you to join them in celebrating International Week on the Parkville campus with a series of exciting events. Highlights include:

• Exhibition: We are Different but the Same
  This week-long artistic exhibition aims to promote multiculturalism, diversity and equity, racial harmony and social responsibility among students.

Annual Meeting of Convocation

All graduates of the University of Melbourne are invited to join the Annual Ordinary Meeting of Convocation, to be held at Graduate House, 220 Leicester St, Carlton at 6.30pm on Wednesday 30 April. The guest speaker will be Nobel Laureate Professor Peter Doherty, AC.

Centenary of Black and Blue Rugby

A Centenary Game and Centenary Dinner on Saturday 7 June will mark the 100-year anniversary of the Melbourne University Rugby Football Club. Former players, supporters and coaches are all welcomed to join the celebrations.
