ALUMNI PROFILE: Angela Savage

Degree: Arts (Honours) 1989

Current Position: Novelist and Sector Development Manager at the Victorian Council of Social Service

Angela Savage is an award winning novelist who has worked extensively in Asia on women's health and family planning.

In 2004 she got her big break, winning the Victorian Premier’s Literary Award in the category of unpublished manuscript by an emerging author. more >>

University Magazine scores alumna an iPod

Congratulations to University of Melbourne alumna Wendy Katz who recently won an Apple iPod Nano for completing an online survey about the 2006 Melbourne University Magazine. The survey received nearly 400 responses. Thank you to everyone who provided such incisive and constructive feedback which will greatly assist improvements to the magazine in 2007.

Asialink Leaders Program Now Open

Applications are now open for the 2007 Asialink Leaders Program. The program trains emerging leaders in all sectors to manage successfully across cultures and borders. It draws on the expertise of Australia's leading Asia institutions at ANU, Melbourne and Sydney Universities and includes high level speakers from government, business, media and the not-for-profit sector. more >>

Rhodes Scholar can see the funny side of life

A University of Melbourne student who performs stand-up comedy in his spare time has won the prestigious 2006 Victorian Rhodes Scholarship. Leng Lee, in his final year of a University of Melbourne Bachelor of Laws/ Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) degree, will travel to the United Kingdom next year to begin a Doctorate in Economic Geography at Oxford University. more >>
