At many stages during your career you will want to pause and reassess your directions. Classics Summer School 2005: The School of Art History, Cinema, Classics and Archaeology presents the Classics Summer School, 4-14 January 2005. An opportunity for anyone interested in learning a little more about how to argue like Socrates, ancient mythology, Greek philosophy and/or Greek history. Classes take place at Melbourne University, using university facilities and academic staff. All courses are open to anyone and classes are small, relaxed and fun. LAND AND FOOD RESOURCES (LFR)
Dr Yvonne Aitken, AM (1911 – 2004): A pioneering agricultural scientist of international renown, Yvonne Aitken devoted her life to undergraduate teaching and research in plant science at the University. As an undergraduate student in 1930, she went on to complete a Master of Agricultural Science and a Higher Doctorate. In addition to her work with the Faculty, she was a tutor, Vice-Principal and Fellow of Janet Clarke Hall, where she was a mentor to generations of students. An extended interview with Yvonne, outlining her career can be found on the Australian Academy of Science website.
Plant cultivar research wins horticultural industry award: University of Melbourne horticulture lecturer Ms Michèle Adler (Burnley) has won the inaugural Horticultural Media Association Science Laurel for original research of demonstrable benefit to the horticultural industry. more

University of Melbourne Medical Society: Graduates of the School of Medicine can keep in touch with fellow alumni, the school and the university through the University of Melbourne Medical Society (UMMS). The society's annual journal, Chiron, was published in June and includes articles from staff and students about current research and programs in the School of Medicine, reunions, obituaries, medical history and much more.
