Many guests expressed enthusiasm for becoming part of an alumni association
based in Shanghai, and a significant number volunteered their time to
be part of the first-term committee.
Speeches were given by Mr Ross Shaw (President, Shanghai Fosters) and
Mr Peter Arkell (Managing Partner, The Swann Group, China) who both
spoke on the benefits of networking in China. Ms Kate Kennedy spoke
briefly about the University's commitment to its international alumni
community.
Alumni in China - Getting Involved
University of Melbourne has nearly 1,000 alumni registered in mainland China. The University currently holds an annual graduate careers function in Shanghai. This event gives new graduates the opportunity to meet key employers, industry representatives, professional associations, recruiters and experienced University of Melbourne alumni.
Soon, a Chinese Alumni Association will be launched which will give all alumni living in China the chance to get involved and enjoy the benefits of networking opportunities, social contacts and alumni events which will be organised by the association.
Make sure you keep your details up-to-date so the University can keep you informed.
