Leading QLD entrepreneur and conservationist to share his story
12 November 2009

Conservation, business success and philanthropy was on the agenda at a special event with leading entrepreneur Michael Baevski (BA(Hons) 1974).

Michael is the founder and joint director of Midell Developments, an organisation at the forefront of creating environmentally sustainable villages. Midell was founded to dispel the myth that development destroys natural environments.  Michael talked about their award winning Turtle Beach Village where residents live with all the usual comforts without polluting the natural environment or using its resources such as water or fuel.

Michael has had a thirty year career as a successful entrepreneur, property developer, venture capitalist, conservationist and philanthropist. He began his business career as one of the founders of the Brumby’s bakery chain, worked for a world leading software company in California and started his own venture capitalist business working with Australian biotechnology companies. An underlying commitment to the environment saw Michael chair the Water and Environment Committee and become one of the founding directors of the Great Barrier Reef Research Foundation. Michael is also a strong supporter of the Queensland Art Gallery.

Fellow alumni and friends joined Michael for an evening of stimulating discussion, wine and canapés.
