Sydney Alumni Network event ‘The Golden Age of Flying Boats'
In May 2009, alumni in Sydney enjoyed an evening of wine and canapés on board the famous South Steyne ferry.
Warwick Aberdee, a noted maritime historian gave an engaging talk about the golden years of the boats that flew – worldwide exploits of the magnificent Flying Boats, in war and peace.
The University of Melbourne Alumni Dinner in Sydney
AN internationally renowed leader in public health and health promotion was the key-note speaker at the 2008 Sydney Alumni Association Dinner. Professor Rob Moodie (MBBS 1976), of the Nossal Institue for Global Health at the University of Melbourne, addressed New South Wales-based alumni at a special three-course dinner in September. Professor Moodie chairs the National Preventative Health Task Force, the Technical Advisory Panel to the Gates Foundation's HIV prevention program in India and the Melbourne Storm Rugby League Club. He is co-editor and co-author of four books, including the recently published Recipes for a Great Life, which he co-wrote with Gabriel Gate.
Sydney Alumni Reception – August 2007
Around 100 alumni and their guests attended a reception at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney.
The occasion was hosted by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Glyn Davis, who was pleased to welcome guest speaker, Professor Peter Cullen. Professor Cullen intrigued the audience with his insights into a range of matters around water management in Australia.
