Mr Nigel Waugh was appointed Executive Director, Human Resources on 1 December 2007. Prior to this appointment Mr Waugh was Director (Workplace Relations and Health) in the Division of Human Resources of the University. Prior to joining the University in 2000, Mr Waugh worked in the Australian Public Service and held senior positions in Human Resources in a number of Commonwealth Departments and agencies.

As Executive Director, Human Resources, Mr Waugh is responsible and accountable for the conceptualisation, development and implementation of the University’s human resource strategies, policies and procedures. As the University’s Head of Human Resources, Mr Waugh oversees the management and delivery of services in recruitment and selection, payroll, systems management and development, change management, equity and diversity, workplace relations, organisational development as well as worker’s compensation and occupational health surveillance.

Mr Waugh is a graduate of the Australian National University and the University of Sydney and is a Certified Member of the Australian Human Resources Institute. Mr Waugh is a member of the Institute of Public Administration Australia and the Industrial Relations Society of Victoria. He is a member of the Remuneration of Employment Conditions Committee of the Melbourne College of Divinity and was formerly the Chair of the Victorian Industrial Advisory Committee (2005) and the Executive Officer of the Group of Eight HR Directors Committee (2004).
