Ms Gillian Luck
The Vice-Principal and Academic Registrar is a part of the Senior Executive of the University of Melbourne and has responsibility for all student programs and services including the statutory role of the Academic Registrar. Gillian Luck commenced in this role in January 2006 following a 15 year career in the Australian and New Zealand higher education sectors that has included Griffith University, Victoria University of Wellington, Wollongong University and the Australian National University. The portfolio of the Vice-Principal and Academic Registrar encompasses student administration, counselling, health and student disability support services, student housing, careers and leadership programs, Indigenous student recruitment and support, international student services, language and learning support, student equity, Melbourne University Sport and childcare. Gillian has a long standing interest in service delivery approaches and developing distinctive student experiences that build on the unique histories and cultures, student profiles, resources and opportunities presented by the universities that she has worked for. In some of her previous roles, Gillian has driven the transition from largely computer supported and manual student administration services to web based, self serve transactions and overseen implementation of the extensive use of technology for communication with and between students to not only facilitate routine university activities but to create connections, support and a sense of community. Like many of our students, Gillian pursued her undergraduate and postgraduate education as a mature age student, juggling full time work and child raising.
