Statute 9.24 - The School of Forestry, Creswick Ltd.1

Recitals

  1. By section 18 of the Melbourne University Act 1958 power is conferred on the University to make and alter statutes for the affiliation to or connection with the University of any college or educational establishment subject to certain conditions set out in that section.
  2. The School of Forestry, Creswick Ltd. ("the School"), a company limited by guarantee, was incorporated under the provisions of the Corporations Law on 21 June 1994 and its objects include the following -
    1. To operate a centre of excellence in education, training and research for the forestry, resource conservation and forest industries which aims at international recognition.
    2. To provide education and training for-
      1. post-secondary education courses and subjects of the University of Melbourne; and
      2. other education and training courses and programs.
    3. To operate and manage Creswick.
    4. To collaborate with educational institutions in developing approved courses.
  3. By an agreement dated 18 August 1994 the School and the University have agreed to the affiliation of the School to the University.
  4. The School has consented to the provisions of this statute.

Affiliation of the School

9.24.1 (1) The School is an educational establishment affiliated to the University for the purposes of-

  1. promoting and assisting the teaching and training of undergraduate and postgraduate students of the University;
  2. promoting and assisting the training of the staff of the School;
  3. promoting co-operation between staff of the School and University staff in teaching, training and research in areas of common interest; and
  4. promoting and encouraging appropriate interaction between members of staff of the School and members of staff of the University and providing facilities therefor.

(2) Nothing in this statute requires the University to bear any part of the cost of provision of facilities for teaching or research work in any of the School's activities.

(3) This affiliation ceases on the termination of the agreement referred to in recital 3.
