Adoption of title of professor
7.1.1 1Staff appointed or promoted to the rank of professor or professorial fellow within the University may take the title of professor. 2Council may from time to time determine conditions under which persons appointed to certain University offices may take the rank and title of professor. 3Council may from time to time determine conditions under which persons appointed under section 7.1.3 may take the rank and title of professor.
Adoption of title of associate professor
7.1.2 1Staff appointed or promoted to the rank of associate professor, reader or principal research fellow within the University may take the title of associate professor. 2Council may from time to time determine conditions under which persons appointed to certain University offices may take the rank and title of associate professor. 3Council may from time to time determine conditions under which persons appointed under section 7.1.3 may take the rank and title of associate professor.
Honorary appointments
7.1.3 The University may make honorary appointments, including but not limited to appointments of persons from- and Council may from time to time determine ranks and titles to apply to such appointments.
- the staff of bodies affiliated with the University in accordance with its statutes and regulations, and
- the staff of bodies otherwise designated by the Council;
Professor emeritus
7.1.4 Council may by from time to time determine conditions under which the title of professor emeritus may be conferred on former professors of the University and when any such title and the privileges associated with its use are to be withdrawn.
