Interpretation
| 11.5.1 | In this statute unless the contrary intention appears- ‘candidate’ means a person who has fulfilled the conditions prescribed for admission to a degree or for the granting of a diploma or other award notwithstanding whether the candidate has fulfilled conditions required for course completed status under Commonwealth or State definition. |

Admission to degree of master without examination
| 11.5.3 | Council may on the recommendation of the Board, and after receiving advice from a committee designated by Council for that purpose, admit without assessment to the degree of master pertaining to a faculty any person of appropriate academic standing who is or has been a member of staff of the University and who has been proposed to Council by more than half of the academic staff of the faculty. |
Admission to honorary degree of doctor
| 11.5.4 | Council may on the recommendation of the Board admit to any honorary degree of doctor any person, whether or not the person has graduated at a university, who is proposed for such admission, by the faculty in which the degree is to be conferred, as being a person of probity and distinguished eminence in some branch of learning proper to that faculty. Such a proposal is approved by the faculty if not less than 30% of the academic staff of the faculty vote on the proposal and it is supported by at least 75 percent of the votes cast. |
Admission to honorary degree of doctor of Laws
| 11.5.5 | Council may admit to the honorary degree of doctor of Laws any person, whether or not the person has graduated at a university, who has been proposed to Council by the Board in accordance with rules made by the Board as being a person of probity and distinguished by eminent public service or outstanding cultural achievement. Such a proposal is approved by the Board if not less than 30 per cent of Board members vote on the proposal and it is supported by at least 75 per cent of the votes cast. |
Fees not payable for admission to certain degrees
| 11.5.6 | No fees are payable for admission to any degree without examination or to any honorary degree under the provisions of this statute. |
Conferring of degrees posthumously
| 11.5.7 | Notwithstanding any other provision of this statute, a degree may be conferred posthumously if the deceased candidate had fulfilled the conditions prescribed for admission to the degree-

Ownership of certificates
| 11.5.8 | A testamur awarded in respect of a degree or diploma remains the property of the person to whom it was awarded or any other person to whom it was subsequently legally transferred or assigned unless Council cancels, revokes or withdraws the degree or diploma whereupon the testamur becomes the property of the University. |
Academic Dress
| 11.5.9 | Council may by regulation determine all matters pertaining to academic dress |
