Regulation 9.61.R1 – Recognised Bodies

General purpose of recognition

  1. Pursuant to Statute 9.61, the University may by regulation record the name of an organisation that is recognised by the University as one in which –
    1. work is undertaken by students of the University for the purpose of satisfaction of degree requirements of the University; or
    2. research is or may be undertaken by teaching or research staff of University; or
    3. any other work is undertaken that assists the University to attain any of its objects.

Cost of facilities

  1. Except as otherwise agreed by the parties, nothing in this regulation requires the University to bear any part of the cost of the provision of facilities in a recognised body or on its premises, or requires the recognised body to bear any part of the cost of the provision of facilities in the University or on its premises.

Staff and honorary appointments

  1. A member of staff of a recognised body may, on the recommendation of its head, and with the approval of the University, be eligible for appointment in the ranks of Honorary Fellow (including Professorial Fellow) in the University under the relevant legislation or University policy in force at the time.

Method of recognition

  1. When the University enters into a recognition agreement, the name of the other institution or body is to be published in the schedule to this regulation.

Term of recognition

  1. Except where otherwise agreed by the parties, no recognition agreement may be for a term longer than five years, and a year before its expiration, a review of the recognition arrangements must be undertaken by the University.
