View/Print PDF (27 KB)
General purpose of recognition
- Pursuant to Statute 9.60.2, the University may by regulation record designated bodies to be affiliated with the University, if in the opinion of Council it would assist in attaining any of the objects of the University.
Criteria for affiliation
- Unless Council otherwise determines, work undertaken in a body by students of the University for the purpose of satisfaction of degree requirements will not be a sufficient basis for affiliation of that body, as affiliation of a body with the University is predicated on a broader engagement with the work of the University.
Cost of facilities
- Except as otherwise agreed by the parties, nothing in this regulation requires the University to bear any part of the cost of the provision of facilities in an affiliated body or on its premises, or requires the affiliated body to bear any part of the cost of the provision of facilities in the University or on its premises.
Staff and honorary appointments
- A member of staff of an affiliated body may, on the recommendation of its head, and with the approval of the University, be eligible for appointment in the ranks of Honorary Fellow (including Professorial Fellow) to the University under the relevant legislation or University policy in force at the time.
Method of affiliation
- When the University with the approval of Council enters into an affiliation agreement, the name of the other institution or body is to be published in the schedule to this regulation. To obtain Council’s approval, affiliation agreements must include provisions deemed appropriate by Council, including the following –
- purposes of the affiliation;
- term of affiliation agreement;
- access to facilities;
- compliance issues;
- research recognition;
- intellectual property;
- staff and honorary appointments; and
- dispute resolution.
Term of affiliation
- Each affiliation ceases on the termination for any reason of the agreement referred to in section 5.
