R7.171 - THE UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE AUSTRALIAN CENTRE FOUNDATION
Recitals-
- In 1991 Council approved an appeal to establish The University of Melbourne Australian Centre Foundation fund for the encouragement and promotion of excellence in education, study, teaching and research in Australian culture in the faculty of Arts.
- At 22 September 2005 the capital of the University of Melbourne Australian Centre Foundation fund was $132,632.69 and the accumulated income was $112,779.54.
It is provided as follows-

The sum of $245,412.23 and any accumulations or additions to the fund is to form a fund called “The University of Melbourne Australian Centre Foundation fund” (“the fund”) and the fund must be paid into an investment pool and reman there until Council directs otherwise.
- The capital and income of the fund are to be applied by Council on the recommendation of the board established in the succeeding section, to facilitate and promote teaching and research in The University of Melbourne Australian Centre (“the Australian Centre”) which may include the purchase of equipment and facilities and the support of fund raising activities.
- (1) There is to be a board of management (“the board”) comprising the following members
- the director of the Australian Centre;
- the deputy director of the Australian Centre;
- not more than three members who are members of the faculty of Arts nominated by the dean of the faculty of Arts (“the dean”);
- not more than three members of the faculty or faculties or other organisation units in the University nominated by the dean;
- not more than two members appointed by Council; and
- not more than four members may be co-opted by the board.
(2) Members appointed under sections 3(i), (iii), (iv), (v) and (vi) are to be members for a term of three years and are to be eligible for reappointment.
(3) The chairperson is to be elected by the board and will hold office for a term of three years and may be re-elected.
