- In this regulation unless a contrary intention appears-
"nominated discipline or specialty" means a discipline or specialty listed in Regulation 5.4.R1, as amended from time to time, which is offered by the respective faculty referred to in the same regulation, and
"faculty" is deemed to include the School of the Victorian College of the Arts and Melbourne Business School.
- A person may be a candidate for a degree of bachelor in a nominated discipline or specialty offered by a faculty ("the faculty") and authorised by the Board, who has-
- satisfied entry requirements for the degree specified by the Board on the recommendation of the faculty and published with the details of subjects, and
- obtained the consent of the faculty.
- The subjects of the course for the degree and the conditions on which such subjects may be taken are those prescribed by the Board on the recommendation of the faculty and published with the details of subjects.
- A candidate who has-
- pursued a course of studies for at least three academic years as a full-time student, or its equivalent as a part-time student, unless a different period of candidature has been approved by the Board on the recommendation of the faculty, and
- attended lectures and classes and undertaken such assignments, investigations and practical laboratory, field or clinical work as prescribed by the Board on the recommendation of the faculty and published with the details of subjects, and
- completed to the satisfaction of the examiners the prescribed assessments,
may be admitted to the degree of bachelor appropriate to the discipline or specialty studied, with the award title listed in Regulation 5.4.R1.
DEGREE OF BACHELOR (DEGREE WITH HONOURS)
- The course for the degree of bachelor (degree with honours) in a nominated discipline or specialty is that prescribed from time to time by the Board on the recommendation of the faculty and published with the details of subjects. These prescriptions must list the schools of the faculty.
- A candidate who has otherwise completed to the satisfaction of the examiners the course prescribed under section 5 and whose examiners certify that the candidate has been awarded first, second or third class honours for the course may be admitted to the degree of bachelor (degree with honours) in a nominated discipline or specialty.
DEGREE OF BACHELOR WITH HONOURS
- A candidate who has otherwise completed to the satisfaction of the examiners a course prescribed under section 4 approved for the purpose by the Board and whose examiners certify that the candidate has been awarded first, second or third class honours for the course may be admitted to the degree of bachelor with honours in a nominated discipline or specialty.
[TEMPORARY REGULATION]
- Candidates admitted prior to 1 October 1999 to any course governed by an individual regulation which is revoked on the commencement of this regulation may complete the course in accordance with the individual regulation in force on that date provided they complete the course by 31 December 2011.
- This Temporary Regulation expires on 31 December 2011.
