- On the recommendation of the vice-chancellor, Council may appoint a chief financial officer on such terms and conditions as it determines.
- The chief financial officer, in conjunction with the vice-chancellor and the senior vice-principal, is responsible for the financial administration of the University.

Duties and responsibilities

Subject to the Act and the statutes, the chief financial officer must-
- superintend and manage the finances and financial reporting obligations of the University in accordance with the policies of Council, the law and applicable accounting standards and practices as in force from time to time;
- advise Council, through the vice-chancellor or senior vice-principal, or otherwise directly where so required, on matters relating to the finances and financial reporting obligations of the University; and
- except when otherwise provided, on behalf of the University sign any documents which are not required to be executed under seal or as a deed.
