Unless otherwise provided by Council, graduates and undergraduates must appear in academic dress at public ceremonies of the University and on any other occasions Council prescribes. |

The academic dress for undergraduates is a plain black stuff gown. |
| Academic dress for graduate diplomates | |

The academic dress for graduate diplomates is the habit of their degrees. |
| Academic dress for members of Council and members of staff of the University | |
4 |
The academic dress for members of Council, members of the academic staff, members of faculties and the professional staff of the University is the habit of their degrees or a gown and trencher as for a master of Arts. |
| Hoods | |
5 |
A hood referred to in this regulation is of the size and shape of the hood of the Oxford master of Arts. |
| Academic dress for bachelors | |
6 |
The academic dress for bachelors is a plain black stuff bachelor's gown with a hood of black silk bound with white silk and lined with the colour of the faculty, school or professional grouping. |
| Academic dress for masters and juris doctor | |

Academic dress for masters is a plain black stuff master's gown, a black trencher cap with a black silk tassel and a hood of black silk lined with the colour of the faculty, school or professional grouping and academic dress for juris doctor will be the same except that the tassel on the trencher cap is white silk rather than black silk. |

The academic dress for doctorates other than doctors of Philosophy, except for full dress, is a black trencher cap with a black silk tassel and a black gown with full sleeves and a hood of their degree. Full academic dress for doctorates other than doctors of Philosophy is a black velvet bonnet, a cherry gown faced with their faculty colour with a hood of black silk lined with colour of the faculty, school or professional grouping. Full academic dress for doctors of Philosophy is a black velvet bonnet and a black gown, faced with cherry silk, and a hood of cherry silk lined with cherry silk. |
