Dr Zable will work on a novel and a collection of stories that explore the themes of displacement, the crossing of cultural boundaries, and the role of story in putting a human face to contemporary political issues. In addition he will develop and deliver a series of seminars on the craft of writing, and the role of story in the classroom to graduate and post graduate students; as well as a series of guest lectures in various department and faculties. Already in the works for first semester are a cross-disciplinary seminar on refugee youth, a seminar on cultural objects and the stories they tell, and lectures on the role of story in understanding the nuances of the immigrant experience. Finally, Dr Zable will be involved in public debate in the areas of writing, multiculturalism, refugee issues, and the migration debate, and through contributions to workshops, seminars, public lectures and other public forums, including the media.
