Vice-Chancellor's Fellows

 

Vice-Chancellor's Fellowships were established in mid 1997 to provide "in residence" status for distinguished public intellectuals to promote their contributions to society in their particular area of expertise. Appointment is usually for one year, or may be taken part-time over several years.

The University is proud to introduce the following Vice-Chancellor's Fellows:

The Hon. Professor David Kemp, BA Melb. LLB Melb. PhD Yale. Appointed 2006.

The Hon Prof Kemp’s role will include providing advice on higher education policy, delivering talks and lectures and undertaking research and writings on matters of public interest and public policy, including analysis of democratic reform in Australia in the late twentieth century.

Professor Brenton Broadstock, BA Monash MMus Memphis DipMus Syd DMus Melb TCL Appointed 2007.

Professor Broadstock’s focus will be to compose a grand large-scale work that will be performed by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra. In addition he will curate a CD recording, featuring Melbourne University composers and performers, compose original music for graduations and a second original composition to be performed by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

Mr Max Gillies, AM. BA Monash Appointed 2007.

Mr Gillies will use the opportunity to develop a new piece of theatre with political and historical themes in collaboration with Guy Rundle and others, and write a personal memoir about his career in political satire.

He will also assist the development of theatre skills and practice on campus and encourage the development of satirical commentary and performance.
