This subject is available to high-achieving students on a cross-institutional (complementary course) basis for credit towards the Bachelor of Arts. It is taught by the United Faculty of Theology (UFT) and Whitley College (Whitley) as part of the Melbourne College of Divinity. Special entry application and enrolment arrangements apply. Subject Description

This subject will help students who have a basic understanding of Biblical Hebrew grammar to consolidate their knowledge of the language and develop their translation skills. A variety of texts from the Hebrew Bible will be read.

Generic Skills

  • develop the following research skills: Management of time and work load. Developing skills in researching material and preparing for further research and analytical thinking at a more advanced level.

Assessment

A 1000 word paper 40%, and a 2-hour examination 60%.
